“BREAKING NEWS!!” Ahmadiyya Mosque is Being Attacked and Torn Down!!!

JAIL — Many Ahmadies are innocently in jail every year for praying.

My Father was taken to jail as our Neighbours complained that they saw him Worshipping as muslim worship. WE ARE MUSLIMS!!!

What I did (or had to do) was to leave Pakistan because I was targeted, jailed, and our lives were not safe anymore!! Migrating to Hong Kong from Pakistan.

We took 2 bags of our luggage (only clothes) to leave our home country and come to Hong Kong (never heard about Hong Kong before).

In Hong Kong...

Block C - Chungking Mansions — We arrived 3AM in the morning after struggling 3 hours around Hong Kong to find Chungking Mansions!

Found another Home in HK (felt relaxed to see our Food, Culture and People), but still very anxious what will happen next!! 8 years waiting in Hong Kong…

Bangles, earrings are our culture – a woman’s beauty is defined by the Jewellery she is wearing, the more jewellery the more beautiful!!

Belonging Workshop!! A workshop where I got a platform to describe myself, my home, my religion, to share with others. Really felt so happy and emotional.

The two lights of my life! As a parent I need to give them a secured future, an identity which they don’t have to hide or be scared of… Love you to the Moon and back.

My Identity:

  • Raised up as a Muslim woman, growing up realising that culture have taken over religious perspectives
  • My future is to give talks, debates on what is life being an Ahmadi Muslim woman
  • Fight for the equality & justice for women
  • My childhood, my youth was always a happy and strong life. How a person is brought up depends on the way he/she have been treated and taught.
  • Now I am in Hong Kong: ran away from religious persecution, still waiting, still healing & trying to fight for safety and acceptance.
  • I am lucky to find safety and I can worship openly, teaching my sons their religion and their roots!
  • My sons are inquisitive about their faith, which is parallel to the values my Father instilled in me from a younger age.
  • My teaching to my sons about different religions is different: I need to promote respect, understanding, and harmony among different faiths.
  • I need people to be more open minded and curious about different religions. To ask questions is the first step towards gaining a better understanding of different religions.

I am…

  • ∴ A daughter
  • ∴ A wife
  • ∴ A mother
  • ∴ An Ahmadi Muslim woman
  • ∴ And most importantly, a woman.

Love Myself <3.
